Me

Cliodhna Smith BSc (Hons) Psychology, UKCP Registered, MBACP (Registered), MBPsS

I am a fully qualified Integrative  Psychotherapist with extensive experience in working therapeutically with both adults and young people.   I am accredited by the United Kingdom for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP).  I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (Hons).  I am also a registered Psychotherapist with the Jersey Care Commission.

In addition to the above professional qualifications and memberships, I have carried out significant further professional training, the most notable of which are: 'Couples Counselling and Therapy', for which I hold the Certificate in Relational Couples Therapy; and a 12 month course in working with trauma, where I was trained by Babette Rothschild, a world-renowned expert in the treatment trauma therapy. I'm currently working towards accreditation as an EMDR Practitioner, having recently completed the relevant training.

Most of my counselling and psychotherapy work is face-to-face, in-person, however I also have significant experience in working online via Zoom, FaceTime, WhatsApp or Skype, which allows flexibility and access to support for people who lead busy lives.

My Background
Originally from Ireland, I've lived in Jersey for over 20 years. I've worked in Banking, HR, a Civil Servant and in recent years, as a School Counsellor.  I now work solely as a Psychotherapist in private practice and have been practising since 2012.  Most of my clients self-refer or are referred by their GP but I am also an Affiliate for AXA PPP International, through which I accept referrals for their Employee Assistance Programme.        Psychological well-being is my passion, which is why, in 2016, I set up 'Welcome Change Therapy'  in Jersey.
